sniffffffffffff

Still sick today. Also, had to work 6 hours so no run was possible. Tomorrow, I'm loading up on Afrin and heading out, regardless.

kleenexes, affrin, tylenol, etc.

Here I am!

Ok, so this isn't actually me, but this represents me. Today I was scheduled for my first speed workout and I cannot breathe through my nose. I can barely speak and I'm coughing a lot. This is my third sinus infection this winter! Second year is the craziest year in school and so I got a flu shot thinking my immune system would likely compromised severely most of the cold & flu season. Well, I haven't gotten the flu, but my sinuses have taken the brunt of my broken immune system.

I will try tomorrow. I have SIM man lab (remember the simulation patients on Grey's Anatomy? "How did you pass your intern exam!?" yeah that thing) tomorrow but nothing else, so I'm going to attempt running the 5 miles, even if I don't get the actual speed work in there.

Weather should be up in the 40s for Sunday's long run! Woo!

GLORIOUS weather

Today I woke up for the second day in a row with an insane head cold. But after 8-4 at school sitting on my butt in lecture, I forced myself outside. We had 45 degrees here in Omaha, so I headed out to run my scheduled 2 miler. I wore my capri length tights and a light weight fleece and I got a little warm! Not enough to take the fleece off, but I did remove my thumbs from the thumb holes in the sleeves. Anyhoo, it was a great run. Hilly (that's Omaha running for you) and there was a 3 block stretch there where the lovely residents didn't shovel their sidewalk (even tho the blizzard was Friday!) so I had to slush through it and come home with wet socks but overall, it was enjoyable.

If this head cold / sinus infection doesn't knock it off, I'm gonna get pissed. Arrgh! I've got a 5 mile speed workout Thursday and 6 miles Sunday - I think I'm going to go to Lake Zorinsky for that one.

How's everyone else's running going?

greetings!

I'm back from Vegas! And guess what? Omaha had 60 degree weather for most of the first part of the week and then just in time for my crew to fly back (Friday) we had a blizzard. Something along the lines of 5-6 inches of snow. Woohoo.

I've been stuck on west coast time and have been exhausted. Yesterday I slept in and then napped most of the afternoon. Today was a decent day for a run but I couldn't garner up the energy. So I will attempt to restart the engine tomorrow. I have class from 8-3 and a vet appt at 4 but I am hoping to get in at least 3 at lunch. Lunch seems to be about the only motivation I have as of late.

Hope the runs have been going well so far. Good luck to Michael B who is running in like a million marathons this year (ok, 12) and who competed in the Austin Marathon today. Can't wait to hear about the race and my advice is to always pick Motel 6 when looking to go cheap. They won't let you down (ok they might, but I have had good luck with them in the past).

I'll put up Vegas pics to my other blog tomorrow or some time (check my other Megan follower. I'm so not smart enough to have 2 blogs with one gmail).

Run on friends!

snore

So, I am off to Vegas in the morning. Conference time. I am going to do my best to put in some shorter runs while I'm there, depending on time and venue. I hope they have a workout facility at the Excalibur. Anyone know for sure?

On the bra front...Sticking with the CW-X for a bit longer. It has just been holding its shape SO WELL and I really want to try the Title9 one next. Maybe I'll win big in Vegas and I can buy 2!! Or, maybe I'll just order it anyway :) Regardless, I probably won't order until next weekend.

Well, I'm off. 10:30 flight tomorrow morning. I wanted to get up and get a run in tomorrow morning but I have to leave for the airport at 8:30 and I've been having a really bad bout with insomnia so I've been tired all. the. time. It's unlikely I'll get a run in tomorrow morning, but hopefully I can do one before I go to THUNDER DOWN UNDER!! Woooo men in speedos! Wow, I'm sweating just looking at that picture on their homepage. Le sigh.

I'm not taking my laptop. I have too much crap in my carryon as it is and I want to take my nice camera and don't want either to get broken by smashing into the other. See you all when I get back!

Run on!

SO SORRY!

So I haven't updated all week. I blame the busyness factor. Neuro exam on Tuesday, class and student senate and dinner and laundry all day yesterday and class, baby shower and a nap today.

Regardless, I have been doing decent on the running. Don't remember when I last posted and too lazy to check, I'll just go ahead and start with Monday.

Monday: 3 mi on the treadmill at lunch. It was freezing here. Calves were a little sore, but warmed up about a mile in. This run was a make-up from last week.
Tuesday: quick 2 mi on the treadmill after my neuro exam. felt okay, kicked my own butt. I ran a fast first mile and picked it up for the second mile. Oh, how I paid for that one... I also put in reps on the hip abduction machine. I got in trouble in taping lab on Monday.
Wednesday: yesterday I had 4 mi to do on the treadmill (still wasn't warm enough). It was so hard. Nearing the second mile I wanted nothing more than to give up and get off the machine. But I forced myself to continue, slowing down to a jog for the last couple miles. My shins were hurting pretty bad and I was unable to get in the groove. I felt sluggish the whole way.

I checked into the online sports bras. The Title9 one is SO EXPENSIVE ($60 so it is for me anyway) and the SportJock one doesn't ship to America. Sadface. Regardless, it runs about the same (about $54) so I'm going to head to Scheels tomorrow and see what they have. I know I keep saying I'm going to go check them out and then I don't go, but this time I have to go shopping for my trip to Vegas next week so I am definitely going. I will probably go with a C-WX again, but I'm going to see what else they have.

Reports to come!
